How to meditate: 4. Focus

What is the focus in meditation

As we have discussed in the previous lesson about our thoughts it is now important to talk about the focus in meditation. In daily life our mind and our thoughts are wandering from one point to another. Nowadays we are trained in our jobs to do multitasking this will overcharge us and leds to burn out in many cases. An old Zen saying is do one thing at a time. When you’re pouring water, just pour water. When you’re eating, just eat. When you’re bathing, just bathe. When you are siting quietly in meditation just focus on one thing.

On what to Focus?

Before the meditation it could be helpful to define your point of focus for yourself first. This could be focusing just on:

  • The breath
  • The present Moment
  • Forgiveness
  • Your Goals
  • Happiness
  • Peace
  • Love
  • Oneness
  • White Light
  • Your Chakras

Just to list here a few. Try to find your own point of focus which fits best to your daily mood.
